It’s hard enough to keep up with trends these days. What’s hot one day, can go cold the next and it all happens at the “speed” of social media. But what happens when those defining what’s trendy can’t even agree?

A recent article appearing on Coveteur.com offered a look at what trends the fashion and lifestyle website’s editors expect to see in the rearview mirror for 2018 and what’s they anticipate to catch on this year. Interestingly, two of the editors disagreed on what they see as trends for sunglasses, one saying big sunglasses are “soooo 2017,” while another favoring them over the trend toward smaller shades.

Big Sunglasses

Big sunglasses certainly seemed to be “in” during the summer of 2017 when Peoplemagazine highlighted trends for summer shades—nearly all of which seemed to be on the larger side.

Large sunglasses can make a bold statement about the wearer as well as make your face look smaller. They can also cover more of your face and eyes, providing greater protection from exposure to sunlight than their smaller counterparts.

Little Sunglasses

A recent blog appearing on Huffington Post declared that tiny sunglasses had returned from their 1990s grave, appearing on many celeb faces including, perhaps most notably, Rihanna, who wore them on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Huffington Post blog also described how wife and husband Kim Kardashian and Kanye West  have disagreed over big sunglasses versus small—she opting for bigger shades in the past, while he prefers the minis.
